Hi,
I have worked with all versions of Windows. Last month I traded in my 15 year old Quad Core Windows 10 secondary computer for a new 12 gen Intel i7 processor that comes with the new Windows 11. I never had any problems with my old computer and Windows 10 ran smoothly on it.
The first week everything was fine, the second week I started installing all my apps, Visual Studio, Office 365, some apps I had bought from the Windows Store, some little old tools that I use very often. and some free applications like Windows Power Tools, Winrar or VLC. The next day when I turn on the computer, I can't use search in the menu, I can't use Cortana, and I can't search for files in explorer.
I thought it might be related to some configuration, so I searched the Knowlodge database for solutions. Rebuild search index, run various Powershell commands, Run System File Checker and DISM tool, SFC, clear search history, restart search services, run Windows troubleshooter (found a problem, asked to reboot as administrator, fixed the problem but still not working). I tried to reinstall the from the Windows ISO (without losing documents and applications) but nothing changed, except a new folder Windows OLD.
Hello Reshab, the issue of Spotlight not working on Windows 11 can be resolved by resetting Spotlight settings. To do that, you are supposed to launch the Settings app, pick the option of Personalization, and choose the option that says Lock screen. Now Toggle off the switch next to Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen and pick the Picture that you will find from the background drop-down menu. Then click Win + R keys to open the Run box, and then write %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings in it and tap Enter. You will see a folder will pop up, so rename the roaming. lock and settings.dat files to roaming.lock.bak and settings.dat.bak. In the end, reboot your PC and navigate back to the Lock screen in the Settings window before you toggle on the switch for Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen. In the end, you can now click Win + L keys to lock your screen and see if the error has been fixed. Try out https://appuals.com/spotlight-not-working-windows-11/ this site to find more solutions.
